I still don't know why they didn't just get an Englishman, or why it's set in a bowling alley instead of a pub, or why Warner Bros. has to crap all over DC movies by making pointless changes that were never a good idea to begin with.

Should a surgeon not be judged by his skill as a surgeon? Or should it be ok that he forgot that sponge in the patient because of something that happened to them 5 years ago that if we knew about it we would understand?
He might be a great guy, and thats pretty cool, but being a nice guy doesn't mean you do your job well.
I'm not making any comments about your opinion of the movie, just about the talent comment. -

Spouting their mouth off way too loosely about keanu... Like straight up shit talking. And im just like okay, wtf... I really want to know what irks people that much to get them that fistey about Keanu....
I do understand your point though, yes.... He is an actor and is judged on his acting ability, but its like that can only be driven to a certain point, Ya kno?
But to compair that to a friggin Surgeon, okay, so he doesnt sponge the patient and he cuts off something else... Damn thats fucked up.... But that to me is worse than shitty acting in a film or 2....
At any rate, im personally glad to see him breaking away more and more from his type casting. Too many people are stuck on his older films and can't get past seeing him in Point Break or Bill and Ted's excelent adventure.
I thought it was odd though, he's working with acouple of the same actors who worked with him on Chain Reaction. -

If Keanu was replaced and they filled the roll with a blond guy it would be either Paul Walker, Christian Bail, or Brad Pitt..... Sad but true.
And S0000 Many films keep getting drastically manipulated....
Take Hellboy for instance, that could have been SO much better.
X-men, Spiderman, and The Hulk, All the storylines twisted around, but then again i liked all of them so far so they havent pissed me off just yet.
The Phantom with Billy Zane, also manipulated....
All those movies of corse were originally comics, Judge Dred...
So, i feel your pain... I havent read much of Hellblazer, i think ill do that after class.
But my point is that Book movies or Comic movies arent going to be the same... Some might not even resemble the comic.

Keanu has proven that as a screen actor, there is one thing he does really quite well. That is, he's fantastic at standing there and looking dramatically good looking. He's pretty good at the action stuff, too. See, the Matrix people had the right formula, at least at the beginning - they had him stand there and look pretty, and then do some crazy special effects action, and THEY REALLY DIDN'T HAVE HIM SAY VERY MUCH. I won't say the man isn't good looking, but as soon as he opens his mouth to talk, I shudder.
I recently stopped by my parents' house while my mother was watching "Something's Gotta Give." And I have to say that Keanu didn't utterly horrify me in it. But that's got to be the first time since a Bill & Ted film that I felt that way.
Sorry if you disagree, but that's the way it goes. I mean, everyone's entitled to their opinion.
Though I have to say, when it's taken together with all of the other alterations they've made, it pretty much makes sense. It bears almost no resemblance to the original, so why should it matter who's playing Constantine? This film isn't for people who loved the comic - it's for the general public, who are clamoring for comic book movies right now. -

Keanu was great in River's Edge and The Gift and My Own Private Idaho... he may well pull something out of it. Maybe they will hand out optional 'Blond Goggles', and a Londonite sound filter earplug! -

Tue, September 14, 2004 - 9:36 PMI don't think he was all that great in My Own Private Idaho. I thought River was, but Keanu was just sorta... there. It's been a looooooong time since I saw it, so maybe my generally negative opinion of Keanu has tinged my memory of the film. I haven't seen the other two, so I can't judge them fairly.
As for the film... I'll see it, but not until it hits DVD. If they'd done it right, it'd have been one of the rare, the few, the proud... the damned expensive... films worth seeing in the theatre. -

I have met Keanu, worked with him twice in fact and he's a perfectly nice man BUT he is not the caliber of actor needed for such a role. I'm sure the movie will probably be pretty good and lord knows Keanu will LOOK great as Constantine. Now go find your meds. -
